Thank you for your answer Zoltan,
7 billion people have to eat, and they could work a bit for it... Otherwise what would they do ? battles & war. They could teach and pray, but usually profits are too low.
We are used to be fed; it is on our social contract. We need to feed on ourself. Who can teach me ? This means decentralization and a human level of production rate with only a few tools.

utopia ?

"keep organic production and lower yields" - tell it to 7 billion people, who should be fed!
lower yields, higher costs = more and more undernourished people..

"Costs & time have to be re-evaluated in regards to life and human viability"
that's right in my views, too. But not with a promt shock for lower levels of society.

In my opinion and in short term these GMO stuffs are more dangerous because of the unsustainability and instability of monopolistic economic systems.

GMO = organized pollution = systematic use of toxical agents-herbicides

keep organic production and lower yields
Costs & time have to be re-evaluated in regards to life and human viability

It is not only the Herbicide of 'Great Monsanto' (mother co. I guess still Pfizer = Viagra :D), glyfosat-isopropil-amin is a 30 years old agent. Roundup Ready GMO-s are dated from somewhen '94 or '95 or later...
On the one hand if we give way for Roundup ready corn, cotton, soybean etc., than we R gonna spray Roundup not only after and before crop, but also in arable culture. Ruound Ready plants are resistant for glyfosat. Any other normal plant can not survive it (resintance development possible in weeds).
On the other hand in conventional practice we now normally use many other selective (mono- or dicotyledonops. killer etc.) and also harmfull herbicides not killing or plant.
Without any herbicides we gonna have lower cost efficiency in production and more engine-hour (tractor) and more fossils and more CO2.. (and more capital goin' east :-) )
Anyway, I beleive in Organic production (really!), but it's a really complex and hard story..

I agree and I'm all against as well, but I know farmers can't ALWAYS remove ALL the weeds by hand. (see Aoltan) I'm not expert enough to provide an anwser to that one....

The question is whether big-agriculture chemical companies "MONSANTO" and "BAYER" can monopolize the seed corn and rice businesses with their Genetic Mutant grains which can survive the toxic effects of "ROUND UP" chemical herbicides. Small organic farmers (such as the AMISH in U.S.A.) have survived for centuries, prodicing high-quality ORGANIC (BIO) food crops without using any toxic chemical herbicides or pesticides. I am shocked that the EUROPEAN COMISSION has allowed MONSANTO to market and sell their "Roundup Ready Corn2" in the European Union. Germany, by authority of German Agriculture Minister, ILSE AIGNER has banned the planting of MONSANTO seed corn "MON 810", for use with "RoundUp" Herbicide. The "Roundup" chemical has been found to cause potential birth-defects and is also a likely carcinogen (cancer-causing agent). In the USA, many homeowners spray their yards with "Roundup" to kill the weeds. Who wants to eat a weed-killer ! See Greenpeace on BAYER Rice > http://www.greenpeace.org/rice
